I know most of you won’t be able to attend the Texas Book Festival … but I thought I’d list a few authors that will be there.  Some are authors whose books I’ve shown on my sites and I have purchased.

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie – she won the Orange Broadband Prize for Half A Yellow Sun

Rick Bass – Why I Came West was a finalist for a National Book Critics Circle Award. Nashville Chrome is his latest work.

Laura Bush – She helped start the Festival in 1996.

Meg Cabot – young adult book writer

Justin Cronin – recently wrote The Passage (see the blog under Books To Consider).

Michael Cunningham The Hours won the Pulitzer Prize and PEN/Faulkner Award and was adopted into a film.

Kami Garcia – author of Beautiful Creatures, a supernatural thriller.

Julia Glass – 2002 National Book Award winner for Three Junes.  (she was there last here but had to cancel as she had the flu).

Kathleen Kent – back again with her second book, The Wolves of Andover.

Karl Marlantes – author of Matterhorn, a Collectible Book of the Month from earlier this year.

Leila Meacham – author of Roses.

Joseph O’Neill – author of Netherlands, winner of the PEN/Faulkner Award and a past Collectible Book of the Month.

Abraham Verghese – author of Cutting For Stone, a highly rated book in my system.

These are a few of the authors who write the fiction that we collect.  There are many more non-fiction writers and many writers I’m just unfamiliar with and will have to do more research on.
